The Irvington Union Free School District is located at 40 North Broadway, Irvington, NY 10533 in Westchester County. Irvington is located approximately 23 miles north of mid-Manhattan where it enjoys impressive frontage views of the Hudson River. Washington Irving, for whom it is named, called it "a beautiful spot, capable of being made a little paradise".
The Irvington School District includes the
Village of Irvington, a portion of southern Tarrytown, and part of the unincorporated areas of Greenburgh
. The district is bordered on the north by Route 119, on the south by the village of Dobbs Ferry, on the west by the Hudson River, and on the east by the Saw Mill River Parkway. The Irvington School District is comprised of the following four schools:
Dows Lane Elementary School (K-3) in Irvington (914) 591-6012
Main Street School (4-5) in Irvington (914) 591-1961
Irvington Middle School (4-5) in Irvington (914) 269-5312
Irvington High School (9-12) in Irvington (914) 591-8500
The District has long enjoyed a stable population base of approximately 7,000, with large numbers of Irvington's long-time residents choosing different housing within the community rather than moving to other communities. Availability of new housing from construction of single-family homes and condominiums attracts new residents interested in a small community with quality schools.
